This year, to mark National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, our Boffo team is continuing our education by doing two things.
Together, we are watching The Secret Path. The Secret Path tells the story of the life and death of Chanie Wenjack, an Ojibwe (Anishinaabe) First Nations boy who ran away from the Cecilia Jeffrey Indian Residential School in Kenora, Ontario. He unfortunately passed away while trying to walk 600km back home. The film, produced by Gord Downie and aired by CBC, highlights the unjust treatment of children in the Indian Residential Schools.
Our Boffo team is also reviewing the Calls to Action Booklet produced by the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation and is discussing how we can all take our own actions towards reconciliation. We’re making a donation to the NCTR Truth and Reconcilation Week Fund to help share the history of the Residential School system.
There is still al lot to learn and we’re continuing our journey of education. And invite you to do the same too.
