At Boffo, our annual Community Outreach is a cherished tradition where our team comes together to give back to the community. This year, we volunteered with our neighbours, The Kettle Society, an organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals living with mental illness through advocacy, housing, employment, and community services. While we’ve supported them financially in the past and will continue to do so, this year we felt compelled to also contribute by donating our time.
Our day began with a tour of their facilities, where we learned about their incredible efforts, including feeding over 90 people daily and promoting inclusion and recovery. It was inspiring to see how much they do, often in collaboration with groups like The Food Stash Foundation, who we had the opportunity to work with last year.
Our team task was food prep for The Kettle’s kitchen, where we cleaned, chopped, and prepared fresh vegetables for their meal program. As we worked, we bonded as a team, swapping recipe ideas and sharing stories, all while supporting an organization that makes such a meaningful impact on the lives of so many.
Though our contribution was small in comparison to all The Kettle Society achieves, it was rewarding to be part of their mission, even for just a morning. This experience reminded us of the power of compassion and the importance of giving back. We left feeling inspired and grateful for the opportunity to support such an incredible organization. It was a morning well spent and one we won’t soon forget.
