The Boffo Foundation was formed to promote our family’s long-standing beliefs of staying passionate and helping others. We are proud of the contributions that the Boffo Properties team has made locally and internationally though the Boffo Foundation and we are always looking for more ways to pay it forward.
Our relationship with The Kettle Society, right here in our own East Vancouver neighbourhood, is one of our most rewarding collaborations. Beyond our development partnership, we support The Kettle by volunteering our time at events, donating clothing and housewares, and contributing annually to financially support their programs. The Kettle serves over 5,000 people each year who are living with mental illness, homelessness, poverty, and substance use. They provide advocacy services, homeless outreach, an ID bank, a health clinic, a women’s transition house, a volunteer program, and supported employment. The Kettle also manages 400 units of supportive housing, and operates a mental health drop-in centre that provides meals every day of the year.
Across the world in Uganda, the Boffo Foundation continues to support the Watoto village and many of our Boffo team members have travelled to volunteer at the village. The village is set up to provide a safe and loving environment for orphaned children to thrive and become the next generation of leaders. Village housing consists of individual houses where children grow up with caring mothers and siblings, adult male role models, and friendly neighbours too. The Watoto village was built to mimic a traditional Ugandan village with a school, a medical centre, a church, and generous outdoor space to explore and play.
Annually, the entire Boffo Properties team takes a day out of the office and volunteers their time to work with a local non-profit organization. In recent years, we have volunteered our time making phone calls to thank donors on behalf of the Covenant House Vancouver, planting and weeding with The Edible Garden and Sharing Farm, who provide healthy food to low-income families in North Vancouver and Richmond respectively. In addition to the Boffo team volunteering their time, the Boffo Foundation also pledges a donation to the chosen organization to support their important work in their communities.
Whether we’re contributing in our own backyard or halfway around the world, we believe that helping humanity uplifts us all.
