The corner of Ridgewood Drive and Edgemont Boulevard has significantly better curb appeal now that it is home to a masterfully planned public plaza and Brent Comber Illuminated Shattered Sphere. Boffo Properties recently hosted a public art reveal to welcome this intricate and thoughtfully designed sculpture to the neighbourhood. Although it was a cold and wet evening at Edgemont Walk, the energy could not be dampened as we unveiled The Illuminated Shattered Sphere created by world renowned North Shore local artist Brent Comber.
Brent Comber Originals is an art and design studio that creates sculpted objects, functional pieces and design environments. Brent is the 4th generation of his family to be raised in Vancouver and using his local inspiration in art pieces that are recognized not only locally but globally as well, showing in places such as Paris, London, Japan and Bora Bora.
Brent initially began working with wood as a garden designer in early 1990, creating pieces to compliment his Pacific Rim inspired gardens. Using solid pieces of wood, Brent found a new take on furniture design that truly integrated with the landscape.
According to artist Brent Comber the Illuminated Shattered Sphere at Edgemont Walk typifies the unique energy found within the Edgemont Village community.
The Illuminated Shattered Sphere was created exclusively from western red cedar, wood that grew only a few yards away from where the sphere now resides in Edgemont Walk’s public courtyard. This northern gateway into Edgemont Village will provide a gathering place where neighbours can meet and be neighbourly!

The Edgemont Walk presentation centre will re-open on January 5th at 12 noon after the holidays. We are open every day from 12 noon to 5pm, with the exception of Fridays.
