The holiday season is well underway, and as the year draws to an end, it’s fitting that we reflect on some of our biggest moments in 2013.
One of our biggest achievements of the year was the launch of our Cordovan project in East Vancouver. Seeing such a positive response from local buyers was particularly rewarding, as we are incredibly proud of the hard work our team put into this project.
The vast majority of Cordovan buyers are people who are familiar with the area and appreciate the overall design of the project and affordable price point. The project is rooted in the sense of community that is strongly felt in East Van, and we hope it continues to build on that vibrant culture.
Adding to our collection of East Van projects, we have additional projects in the works for the area so stay tuned in 2014 for more details!
Aside from growing our portfolio of homes, our team also grew this year. We were happy to welcome Jake McEwan as our new Director of Development earlier this year. Jake came to Boffo Properties from Intracorp Projects, and previously worked for Concord Pacific Developments as well as the B.C. Government. A graduate of the University of Victoria, Jake is also a past Action Canada Fellow, a national award given to 15 future leaders of Canada annually.
As in previous years, we have forgone an annual holiday gathering this year to instead fund local charitable initiatives. On February 13, we are hosting an event for the Watoto Children’s Choir from Uganda as part of our holiday outreach. As ambassadors of the estimated 50 million children in Africa orphaned as a result of HIV/AIDS, war, poverty and disease, the Watoto Children’s Choir raises funds and awareness towards it Uganda-based holistic care program. We can’t wait to see and hear their energetic fusion of gospel and traditional African rhythms!
We are also honoured to continue to support The Kettle Society. We are donating to their holiday dinner and operations over the holiday season. The Kettle has helped people in need by providing housing, employment and support services for over 35 years. Their team works hard to help raise awareness about mental health and to break down barriers for people living with mental illness. We couldn’t be prouder to support such a worthy organization.
